The companion animal overpopulation epidemic has reached staggering proportions across our nation. Communities must tackle this issue head-on to prevent needless animal suffering.
The great news is that there really is an easy solution – spay and neuter doggies and kitties in our community. Right now the animals outnumber available good homes by about 20 to 1. We at Unconditional Love advocate a tag-team approach, balancing prevention and rescue: educate and facilitate spay/neuter for companion animals, and save and rehabilitate innocent animals in danger of death at overcrowded shelters.
Companion animal overpopulation is a tragedy that has the potential to be solved in our lifetime, if each of us accepts responsibility and helps end the needless suffering and premature deaths of animals we consider pets, friends and family members. Join us and serve as an animal ambassador. It’s easy. Encourage your family, friends, colleagues, neighbors and all those you meet to spay and neuter their own animals, and to help get feral cats and stray dogs altered. We are happy to provide information in RESOURCES (provide link to an issue paper entitled “Baby Boom” – you will receive it from me probably tomorrow.) to make it easier to have a conversation about the benefits of spay/neuter. Before you know it, you’ll be an effective advocate and you too will be a hero for animals!
Click here for the award-winning video In Hope: An Animal Shelter Story. It is a profound, honest look at the tragedy of companion animal overpopulation. It may not be appropriate for young children or those who are easily upset as it shows animals that have been euthanized. |
